What changed in the 2025 upgrade?
In April 2025 we publicly launched a complete overhaul of Competely. This page covers what changed for users from the earlier version.
What changed
The new Competely is deeper, more accurate, and runs continuously rather than as a one-shot tool. The headline changes:
- Deeper competitor discovery. Surfaces relevant competitors you might not have known about.
- More metrics. 100+ data points tailored to your specific comparison rather than a fixed set.
- AI-powered summary emails. Competitive Briefs keep you informed about competitor moves, risks, and opportunities on a schedule.
- Smarter AI. More accurate analysis using state-of-the-art models.
- Deeper site reading. Better page coverage, external sources, sitemap usage, and JavaScript rendering.
- Automatic re-runs. Analyses run on a schedule, with change tracking and historical data.
- View data sources. Each insight links back to the source it came from.
- Offline processing. Close your browser. Analyses keep running in the background. Come back any time to find the results.
- Flexible sharing. Per-project Sharing Settings instead of all-or-nothing visibility.
- Improved interface. Sleeker design and preview cards across the app.
To enable these capabilities, the upgrade introduced Projects, which replace the old standalone "Analyses".
What are Projects?
A project pairs your product with the competitors you want to track. Same idea as the old Analyses, but a project keeps going over time instead of ending after one run. Each project supports:
- Offline processing. Analyses run server-side. You don't have to keep a tab open.
- Automatic re-runs. Analyses run on a schedule you pick, with change tracking over time.
- AI-powered summary emails. Competitive Briefs built on top of these automatic runs keep you informed without reading the full analysis every time.
- Dynamic metrics. Data points adapt to your specific comparison rather than being fixed.
How did plans change?
We redesigned plans around the Project model. Instead of a monthly number of one-shot analyses, plans now include a total number of active projects you can keep running.
- Before (Jun 2024 to Apr 2025): plans included a monthly cap on new analyses (for example 3, 7, or 20 per month). Analyses couldn't be re-run. You had to create a new one every time. No automatic monitoring.
- Now (from Apr 2025): plans give you a total number of active projects, each of which can be re-run any time and also runs on a monitoring schedule.
The pre-Apr 2025 plan structure mapped to the new one as follows:
| BEFORE | NOW | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PLAN | Analysis / mo | Competitors per Analysis | Total Projects | Competitors per Project |
| Personal | 3 / mo | 5 | 2 total | 5 |
| Startup (now Starter) | 7 / mo | 7 | 3 total | 10 |
| Agency (now Pro) | 20 / mo | 20 | 6 total | 15 |
For current plan details, see the Choose Your Plan page or pricing and plans.
In June 2026 these plans were renamed: Startup is now Starter, Agency is now Pro, and the Team plan is now Scale. See what happened to my plan?.
Can I still access my old analyses?
Yes. Older analyses stay available in read-only mode. Open your Dashboard and scroll to the bottom to see them. New analyses can only be created through the Project system.
