The best competitor analysis tools in 2026

Seven tools compared on what you get, whether facts are sourced, whether you can see the price, how you buy, and who keeps watching. Written by a vendor, checked against every vendor site.

The best competitor analysis tool depends on the job. For a founder or small marketing team that wants a finished, sourced analysis today with a visible price and no sales call, Competely is built for that (we make it). Crayon and Klue are enterprise competitive intelligence platforms for dedicated CI and product marketing teams, sold by demo or estimate. Kompyte publishes plan tiers without prices and suits teams tracking many companies. Visualping is a web page change monitor with a free plan. Competitors App is a per-competitor feed of marketing changes with a free trial. Similarweb measures traffic and audience rather than what competitors are doing. Every third-party fact here was checked on the vendor site on September 5, 2026.

The short answer

Last checked against each vendor's own site on September 5, 2026.

If you run a small company and want a finished competitor analysis you can read today, with a source behind each fact and a price you can see before you sign up, Competely is built for that job. We make Competely, so read this page as a fair account from an interested party, and read the section on when Competely is not the right pick before you decide.

The other tools here are good at different jobs. Crayon and Klue are competitive intelligence platforms for dedicated CI and product marketing teams at larger companies, bought through a sales process. Kompyte publishes plan tiers with tracked-company and user limits and is aimed at teams that track many companies. Visualping watches web pages for changes and publishes its pricing, including a free plan. Competitors App is a per-competitor feed of marketing changes with a free trial. Similarweb measures website traffic and audience, which answers a different question from what a competitor is doing.

How we compared them

We looked at each tool through the questions a small team asks before buying, and we checked every answer on the vendor's own site on the date above. The questions:

  • What do you get: a finished, structured analysis, or a stream of raw changes you interpret yourself?
  • Is each fact sourced, so you can open the page it came from?
  • Can you see the price and start on your own, or does the vendor route you to a demo or an estimate form first?
  • Does the tool keep watching competitors after the first pass, and how does it tell you what changed?
  • Who is it built for: a founder or a small marketing team, or a competitive intelligence function inside a sales organization?

We do not list competitor prices. Where a vendor publishes pricing we say so, where it does not we say so, and we leave the numbers to their pages, which change more often than this one.

The tools, one by one

Competely

Competely is a competitor analysis tool. You enter your product and your competitors, and it produces one report that covers all of them across eight dimensions: marketing and messaging, product and features, pricing and sales, audience and customers, customer sentiment, company profile, market and opportunity, and a SWOT. The report holds more than 100 data points in total, and every data point carries a link to the public page it came from, so checking a claim is one click. A full run typically takes 30 minutes.

You buy it on the site, from $39/mo, billed monthly or yearly, and you can cancel anytime. There is no demo and no sales call. Monitoring is included on every paid plan: on a schedule that depends on the plan, Competely re-reads each competitor's public pages and emails a short brief of what changed. You can export to CSV and PDF and share the report by link.

The honest limits: Competely reads public web pages only, so it does not do social listening, press tracking, or win-loss interviews. It has no API, no native Slack app (Slack works through a channel email address), no CRM integration, and no SOC 2 report. There is no free trial of the full product, though you can create a free account with no credit card and get a real but partial analysis of your product against two competitors, with depth, exports, and monitoring on the paid plans. Full sample analyses are open to anyone without an account. It is built for the founder and the small marketing or product team, not for a competitive intelligence department.

Crayon

Crayon is a competitive intelligence platform for teams that run a CI program: collecting intel about competitors, organizing it, publishing it to sellers as battlecards and other assets, and measuring whether people use it. Its pricing page says pricing is tailored to the needs of your program and offers a "Request an Estimate" form rather than a price list. The demo page describes the process as a specialist emailing you, a scheduling step, and a 30-minute call to discuss fit.

Crayon fits a company with a dedicated product marketing or CI function, a sales team that consumes battlecards, and a procurement process. It is a program you adopt over weeks, not a report you read this afternoon. If that is your situation, it belongs on your shortlist. If you are a team of three who wants a finished analysis today, the buying process alone is the wrong shape. Our Crayon alternative page goes deeper.

Klue

Klue is a competitive intelligence platform with two parts: an agent that collects competitive intel and shares it across the organization, and a win-loss suite that gathers buyer feedback through interviews and analyzes it. The site describes integrations with the workplace tools teams already use, states that more than 250,000 users rely on Klue, and lists the product in Anthropic's Claude connector directory. There is no public price. The pages we checked lead to "Get a demo", and the demo page asks you to share details so the team can set up a time.

Klue fits companies that want competitive intel and win-loss analysis in one place for a revenue team, and that expect a guided rollout. As with Crayon, the shape of the purchase tells you the buyer: a team with budget, stakeholders, and a program to run. Our Klue alternative page has more.

Kompyte

Kompyte is the one enterprise-style platform here that publishes its plan structure. Its plans page lists three tiers, Essentials, Professional, and Unlimited, with the number of companies tracked, user licenses, website URLs per company, and search keywords per tier, and it says all tiers include unlimited battlecards, reports, and listening alerts. It does not publish dollar prices. The call to action is "Request a Breakdown", and the page says you start seeing insights in 24 to 48 hours with full implementation in one to two weeks.

Kompyte fits a mid-sized team that tracks ten or more companies, has many people who need access, and is comfortable with a sales conversation. The published tier limits make it easier to tell whether you are in its range than with Crayon or Klue. See our Kompyte alternative page for the detail.

Visualping

Visualping is a web page change monitor. You point it at a page, choose how often to check, and it alerts you when the page changes, with visual, text, and element detection and an AI summary that flags whether a change matters. Its pricing page publishes plans from a free tier (150 checks a month across five pages, with no credit card) through Personal and Business tiers to a custom Solutions plan, with check frequencies from once an hour on the free plan down to every two minutes on Business plans. It lists email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Sheets, webhooks, a REST API, an MCP server, Telegram, and n8n among its delivery options.

Visualping is the right pick when the job is "tell me the moment this page changes", including pages that have nothing to do with competitors, such as compliance notices or stock. It is a monitor, not an analyst: you still decide which pages to watch and what a change means for you, and it does not produce a competitor analysis. Our Visualping alternative page compares the two jobs.

Competitors App

Competitors App is a monitoring service that watches a competitor across marketing channels and sends you a feed of changes. Its site lists website changes, social media activity, trial emails and newsletters, keyword rankings, reviews, traffic patterns, and PR mentions, delivered through a web dashboard and email updates, with daily and weekly email options, a Slack integration, and a Zapier integration. Pricing is published on the site and is priced per competitor per month, with a free trial and a self-serve signup.

Competitors App fits a marketer who wants a running feed of what competitors are doing across channels, priced by how many competitors they watch. As its own site puts it, it is designed around a few minutes a week. It is a change feed rather than a structured report, so if you need a side-by-side analysis of several competitors with sources, you assemble that yourself.

Similarweb

Similarweb is a digital intelligence platform: it estimates website traffic, engagement, keywords, and ad activity for any site, so you can benchmark your audience against a competitor's. Its pricing page separates individuals and small teams, who can sign up on their own, from businesses and enterprises, who are asked to contact sales for a custom package. It offers a free trial and does not display dollar prices on the pricing page.

Similarweb answers "how much traffic do they get and from where", which is a real question in competitor research but a different one from "what are they doing and how are they positioned". Many teams use both kinds of tool. If your need is traffic and audience data, none of the other tools on this page does that job, so teams usually buy Similarweb alongside a competitor analysis tool rather than in place of one.

When Competely is not the right pick

We would rather you choose well than choose us. Competely is the wrong tool if:

  • You run a competitive intelligence program for a sales organization and need battlecards pushed into Salesforce, win-loss interviews, seat management, and a security review. Crayon and Klue are built for that.
  • You want an alert within minutes when one specific page changes, or you monitor pages that are not competitors. Visualping is built for that.
  • You want a feed of competitors' social posts, email campaigns, ad and keyword moves rather than a structured analysis. Competitors App is built for that.
  • You need traffic and audience numbers. Similarweb is built for that.
  • You need an API, a native Slack app, or a SOC 2 report. Competely has none of those today. There is a free analysis on your own URL, but no ongoing free tier.
  • Your competitors' meaningful moves happen off the public web, in private pricing conversations or in channels Competely does not read.

How to choose in ten minutes

  • Write down the question you actually have. "What are my competitors doing and where do we win" points to an analysis tool. "Tell me when this page changes" points to a monitor. "How much traffic do they get" points to Similarweb.
  • Check how the vendor sells. If the site shows a price and lets you sign up, you can judge the product on its output today. If it routes you to a demo or an estimate, budget weeks and stakeholders.
  • Ask where the facts come from. A report with a source link on each claim can be checked. A summary with no sources has to be trusted.
  • Ask what happens after the first pass. Monitoring included, monitoring extra, or no monitoring changes the total cost of staying current.
  • Match the contract to your stage. Month to month and cancel anytime suits a team that is still finding out what it needs.

Sources and how we checked

Every third-party fact on this page was read on the vendor's own site on September 5, 2026. Pages reviewed: Crayon (https://www.crayon.co/pricing and https://www.crayon.co/get-a-demo), Klue (https://klue.com/pricing, which serves the product overview, and https://klue.com/demo), Kompyte (https://www.kompyte.com/plans), Visualping (https://visualping.io/pricing), Competitors App (https://competitors.app/ and https://competitors.app/pricing), and Similarweb (https://www.similarweb.com/pricing/). Competely's pricing on this page is rendered from the live plan table, so it cannot drift from what you would pay. Vendor sites change. If you see a difference, their page wins. We re-check this page at least monthly.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best competitor analysis tool for a small business?
For a small business the practical test is whether you can see the price, sign up on your own, and get a finished analysis the same day. Competely meets that test with a structured report across eight dimensions, a source link on every data point, and monitoring included. We make it, so weigh that. Visualping and Competitors App are also self-serve with published pricing, but they deliver change alerts and feeds rather than a structured analysis. Crayon and Klue are sold to larger teams through a demo.
Is there a free competitor analysis tool?
Visualping publishes a free plan for web page change monitoring, and Competitors App and Similarweb offer free trials, all confirmed on their sites on September 5, 2026. Competely has no ongoing free tier, but a free account with no credit card gets you a real but partial analysis of your product against two competitors, with depth, exports, and monitoring paid. Full sample analyses stay open to anyone without an account. General AI assistants can also do a free first pass, and our guide to competitive analysis with AI covers how.
How much do Crayon and Klue cost?
Neither publishes a price. On September 5, 2026, Crayon's pricing page offered a "Request an Estimate" form and said pricing is tailored to your program, and Klue's site led every path to "Get a demo". We do not repeat third-party price estimates because they go stale and cannot be checked. Competely publishes its plans on this site.
Do I need a competitor analysis tool or a website change monitor?
They answer different questions. A competitor analysis tool tells you what a competitor is, how it prices, whom it targets, and where it is strong and weak, in one structured report. A change monitor like Visualping tells you the moment a specific page changed and leaves the interpretation to you. If you want the analysis and also want to hear when something changes, Competely does both: the report, plus scheduled briefs of what changed.
What makes a competitor analysis trustworthy?
Sources you can open. A claim about pricing, a feature, or a customer is only as good as the page it came from, and prices change without notice. Prefer a tool that attaches a source to each data point rather than a summary you have to take on faith, and check anything you will act on against the competitor's live page. Competely links every data point to its source for that reason.
